Toyota Caldina 1996



This has been a great family car for us, however we have up-sized to a seven seater to make room for growing children. Can't justify a second car so it is up for someone else to get some great use from.

Purchased it from an importer in 2008, so we have been the only owner (other than importer) in New Zealand. I have changed oil and filter every 10,000 km over that time and kept up with other maintenance to keep it reliable. We have found to be very economical with about 550 km around town or 700 km open road to the tank (somewhere around 45 to 50 L I think). A great car that Toyota really got right.

Good points to note:
- Just serviced, so good for another 10,000 km.
- Rear brake pads replaced last warrant.
- Transmission serviced recently (see photos)
- Cam belt done at ~187,000 km.
- Towbar & electrics. Very handy.
- Reversing sensors (these really are great).
- Full size spare (space savers are a dangerous joke).
- Snow chains included.
- Central locking.
- Stereo has 3.5 mm Aux input in center console.
- Car seat rear tether points added in boot.
- Battery replaced within the last few years.
- All the tyres have good life left in them.

Irritating points to note:
- The driver side door lock wont unlock with key. Haven't investigated, however parts are easy to find from a wrecker, or may be fixable with some time if so inclined. We've just been unlocking from passenger side.
- Driver wing mirror glass cracked. Happened a couple of years ago, still usable and passes the warrant. Again, parts from a wrecker, or just live with it like we have.

Many great memories in this car. It has the usual wear and tear, scratches etc that a car of this age collects. It has been very reliable for us, however it is now an older car, so sold as is.
