Mitsubishi Canter Campervan 1983
Need a tiny home on wheels?
This old classic is up for grabs due to me loving the lifestyle and purchasing a new one to live in permanently and travel.
Park up in a place like Queenstown as a home - cheaper than renting, or you can be on the move, as I have been - 3x up to Christchurch, down to Invercargill and back to Queenstown. However, beware of those hills! You'll have to be patient with this old girl as she isn't the fastest but she is only about the length of a station wagon so can be parked in a normal car park.
Much of the interior has been renovated with a new and spacious kitchen, including a crisp white tiled wall, bench, sink and stove, and new carpet. It also has a fairly new shower and toilet cubicle, rather than the original potty. It's a great little shower!
This camper boasts two solar panels - one very new, and two new deep cycle house batteries (+ a new truck battery and fuel filter serviced + receipts) so you can freedom camp and live off the grid. The little fridge runs for free! There is a regulator that allows 2x USB devices to be plugged in without needing an inverter but there is an inverter that runs a mini blender, a laptop and printer, etc - so most appliances you need in daily life. I'll even give you a dust-buster vacuum cleaner that plugs into the cigarette lighter.
The luton bed was the highest I could find when I was looking to buy. I sit up there and play my guitar. (Most luton beds are low and claustrophobic.) If you are happy to sleep in the double luton bed, you can leave your oak dining table and couches permanently set up.
The back window is huge and takes in the scenery magnificently at Lake Hayes Reserve, Lake Wakatipu, Lake Dunstan, etc. There's nothing like a spectacular free view. There is also a cat door.
There are about 330,000km on the clock and a diesel mechanic reckons it has another 200,000 km life left. COF not WOF, column gear change. Has self containment cert.
This campervan is currently in Ashburton. Was $23K, now $19,500K.
